UmanMap is an educational tool at once simple, complete and scientific that allows is to better know and understand human development. Allowing for a better comprehension of complete human function, UmanMap allows us to assess an individual’s progress in acquiring competencies and self-knowledge within the family and wider society; it sets out a new way of approaching this complex area through thought, understanding and the actions to be taken.

UmanMap is split into 3 developmental phases:
- Infancy
- Childhood
- Preadolescence, adolescence and young adult

It is a scientific document based on the human sciences and validated by child-development specialists, child psychologists and educators.

What purpose does it serve?

It proposes educational and pedagogical objectives in a precise, logical and objective manner. Thanks to UmanMap, everybody can immerse themselves in the world of child and adolescent development, allowing them to anticipate and prevent potential problems and stimulate further development constructively and appropriately.

Technically, how does it work?

UmanMap is built along a horizontal axis of time, defined in months and years, and a vertical construction around the 5 fundamental elements of human development essential to an individual’s acquisition of independence and autonomy, namely:

- Social and emotional development
- Cognitive (intellectual) development
- Linguistic development
- Motor development
- Somatic development

The boxes then placed on the chart are the essential elements of development; once acquired by an individual, they will endure for the rest of their lives. More complex elements are explained and defined in more detail in such a way as to be accessible for all.

Educational themes are elaborated upon by UmanMap in a more complete way in order to allow adults to deepen their understanding, while the “Historical” tool allows them to create a synthesis of any child or adolescent’s progress in real-time.

Who is it for?

UmanMap is a working tool for professionals in the health and social care fields, but is equally useful for parents who want to better understand and help their child’s development.

It allows an adult, whether parent, educator, therapist or doctor, to know where a child is within their individual development, to guide them, and do so without losing themselves or the child in the process.
